Manufacturing Technician (Level 4) for Northrop Grumman's Space Sector, focusing on conformal coating and assembly of aerospace components. What you'd actually do

  1. Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.
  2. Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.
  3. Determine and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
  4. Work with engineers in conducting experiments.
  5. Work independently with minimal supervision

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience within manufacturing
  • Proficient with work instructions, engineering drawings, parts lists and technical manuals to perform a variety of operations on simple to complex board and cable assemblies used in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with washing boards, staking components, adhesive bonding, masking, applying conformal coat to boards.
  • Proficient with use of hand tools such as tweezers, syringes and blades often requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to perform potting operations for both circuit card and cable assemblies with varied methods and layouts
  • Knowledge of ESD, FOD, and tool control
  • Document actions by completing production plans and complying with quality standards and requirements
  • Ability to identify problems and troubleshoot to develop, evaluate options and propose solutions

Nice to have

  • Active or ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security clearance of Secret or above
  • Familiar with Northrop Grumman processes
  • Experience with wet install process on mechanical assembly boxes
  • J-STD-001 Certification (Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies) & Space Addendum
  • IPC-A-610 Certification (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)
  • TM-2023 Certification (Application Procedure for Printed Wiring Board Assemblies: Cleaning, Baking, Cleanliness, Testing, Staking, Potting)
