Anduril Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to design, develop, and maintain tooling systems for defense products. This role involves mechanical design, CAD expertise, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing capabilities and production efficiency. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5+ years of experience in tooling design, and expert CAD skills. Experience in defense manufacturing and automation systems is preferred. The role is based in Ashville, OH, with an initial training period in Santa Ana, CA.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and develop custom tooling, fixtures, and jigs to support manufacturing operations across multiple product lines
  2. Design integrated end of arm tooling for manufacturing operations that demand high quality and repeatability
  3. Create detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and specifications for tool fabrication using advanced CAD software
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues in production environments to minimize downtime
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production staff to integrate tooling solutions with manufacturing systems

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing tooling design and implementation
  • Expert capability with (at least one) 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, or CATIA)
  • Demonstrated experience with tooling design for precision manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of machining processes, materials properties, and manufacturing methods
  • Expert in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of automation systems and integration with tooling solutions
  • Experience with tool lifecycle management and maintenance planning
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Background in rapid prototyping and iterative design
  • Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
