Marine Designer/drafter

This role supports the development of autonomous surface vessels by performing traditional vessel design tasks, including 2D and 3D modeling and technical drawing production. The role requires CAD drafting experience and knowledge of maritime regulatory requirements.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support new vessel construction through detailed 2D and 3D modeling and technical drawing production
  2. Create and modify ship construction drawings
  3. Work directly with naval architects, marine engineers, and electrical engineers on new vessel design implementation
  4. Maintain strict drawing standards
  5. Create documentation for marine regulatory compliance

Skills

Required

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology or similar field of study
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of CAD drafting experience
  • Strong fundamentals in one or more areas of vessel design: general design, mechanical design, electrical design, structural design, and piping design
  • Knowledge of maritime regulatory requirements, construction tolerances, and vessel construction processes and sequences
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software like NX, ShipConstructor, AutoCAD, and Rhino
