This role provides technical expertise and pre-sales support for Caterpillar marine engines, focusing on hybrid and electrification systems. It involves working with dealers and customers, contributing to product development by providing market requirements, and managing early adopter projects. The role also includes developing manuals, preparing training, and assisting with complex applications.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide technical expertise and pre-sales support for Caterpillar branded marine engines to our global dealer network and customers
  2. Work with various levels of industry partners, including dealers, shipyards, operators, and owners to successfully apply hybrid and electrification systems in the many varied vessel applications
  3. Ensure a product’s technical specifications and capabilities are communicated to the sales force and to provide technical assistance as needed to enable the sale of Caterpillar products
  4. Serve as a subject matter expert in product development efforts by providing critical customer input on market requirements and working with the NPI (New Product Introduction) team to optimize the product for the most cost-effective installation for our customers
  5. Serve as project manager for dealers on early adopter projects

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent) in an accredited marine, mechanical or electrical engineering or technologist curriculum
  • 5+ years relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with design and/or application of engine and/or generator products
  • Marine industry or dealer power systems experience in a technical support role

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in dealer/customer facing positions
  • Experience with Pro/e and Teamcenter, as well as familiarity with SAP
  • Hybrid or electrification system experience such as working knowledge of controls, integration, and engine systems in stationary or marine applications
