Material Cost Accountant - Millennium Space Systems

This role is for a Material Cost Accountant at Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing company. A Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting with 10+ years of experience is required, along with knowledge of ERP systems like Deltek Costpoint. Security clearance is also a requirement.

What you'd actually do

  1. Accounting for purchases, receipts, transfers, and consumption of materials and company-owned inventory
  2. Performs month-end close procedures to ensure inventory balances are calculated correctly. Reviews and posts journal entries for inventory movements into the General Ledge
  3. Ensures company costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average) are accurately applied to arrive inventory value
  4. Calculates reserves for E&O (excess & obsolete) and slow-moving inventory
  5. Performs inventory & material analyses required by GAAP, CAS, FAR, or other authoritative and regulatory bodies, such as Lower of Cost or Market Analysis, Purchase Price Variance, Scrap, inventory reserves, etc.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of 10+ years of material and inventory accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or similar
  • Strong knowledge of material accounting, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting
  • Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP systems
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and influence operational outcomes
  • Ability to analyze data, identify problems, and develop effective solutions
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship

Nice to have

  • CMA, CPA, or MBA preferred
  • Experience in aerospace and defense or other government contractors desired
  • Extensive experience with Costpoint, including a deep understanding of advanced functionalities and best practices in the Accounting and Materials domains
