Material Expeditor

This role is responsible for expediting parts and materials for prototype builds, testing, and production runs, collaborating with various teams to resolve delivery issues and maintain schedules. It involves tracking material status, communicating risks, and ensuring adherence to compliance standards, particularly in defense contracting.

What you'd actually do

  1. Expedite parts and materials from suppliers, ensuring timely delivery in accordance with production and R&D schedules.
  2. Collaborate with procurement, vendors, and logistics to resolve supply delays, shortages, and backorders.
  3. Monitor and update material delivery status in ERP/MRP systems, including tracking numbers and shipping confirmations.
  4. Communicate clearly and frequently with internal stakeholders about material availability and potential risks to schedules.
  5. Support inventory management by coordinating incoming inspections and assisting with material receipts as needed.

Skills

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in materials expediting, supply chain, logistics, or production planning
  • Strong understanding of supply chain workflows and manufacturing operations
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Nice to have

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, maritime, or robotics industries
  • Familiarity with DoD procurement and compliance standards (ITAR, DFARS, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of technical drawings and BOMs
  • Forklift certification or experience managing physical inventory
