Materials Engineer, Quantum AI

Google Google · Big Tech · Santa Barbara, CA +1

This role focuses on materials science and fabrication processes for quantum computing, collaborating with the Quantum Artificial Intelligence team. Responsibilities include developing and optimizing materials, fabrication processes, and testing procedures for wiring, interconnects, and packaging critical for quantum computers. The role involves working with researchers and engineers to enhance superconducting hardware and drive hardware implementation and testing.

What you'd actually do

  1. Research and develop new materials for use in wiring, interconnects and packaging for superconducting quantum computing.
  2. Develop and optimize processes with vendors and integrate them into component fabrication flows.
  3. Specify, procure, and bring up capital processing and testing equipment
  4. Drive partners and give technical input for processes that are performed externally.
  5. Sustain and improve existing processes with a focus on materials performance, throughput, yield and component reliability.
