Materials Management and Transportation Manager

Boeing is seeking a Materials Management and Transportation Manager for their Commercial Airplanes division in Everett, WA. This role involves managing and integrating employees' activities across materials management and transportation, developing project and process plans, acquiring resources, and leading process improvements. The manager will oversee factory support, shipping/receiving, material handling, warehousing, and serve as the Supply Chain contact for off-shift customer support, leading a team of hourly, represented team members. The position requires 5+ years of experience in supply chain/materials management and 3+ years in a leadership role, with strong communication and Microsoft Suite skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manages and integrates employees’ activities across more than one area in materials management and transportation
  2. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  3. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  4. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  5. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in Supply chain and/or Materials Management
  • 3+ years of experience demonstrating executive presence with exceptional written and oral communication skills; able to influence senior leaders, present complex technical/organizational matters clearly, and lead high-stakes discussions
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift (Must be able & willing to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays; mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree
  • 5+ years of experience demonstrating exceptional business, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • 3+ years leading critical projects
  • 5+ years of experience with Supply Chain, Supplier Management, and/or Procurement practices and processes
  • 5 + years of experience with materials planning or inventory control process role in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with safety and quality processes
  • Aerospace or manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a role that involves strategic planning and risk identification
  • Demonstrated ability to create shared vision and translate into strategy Implementation
  • Demonstrated capacity to proactively and quickly makes sense of complex issues; responds effectively to complex and ambiguous situations; communicates complicated information simply
  • Experience expediting products through a production system to meet emergent customer demand
