Northrop Grumman is seeking a Materials & Processes Engineer specializing in composite materials for airframe structures. The role involves root cause analysis of material failures, generating test plans, analyzing and developing materials and processes, and ensuring quality specifications. Requires a BS in a STEM discipline with relevant experience in composite materials for aerospace structures and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performs root cause analysis of material failures, provides effective solutions to production composite issues
  2. Generates test plans & reports
  3. Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems
  4. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop non-metallic processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
  5. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline
  • Experience with composite materials for airframe structures
  • Experience with composite fabrication and design on aircraft
  • Experience with repair processes composite materials used in aerospace structures
  • Ability to work weekend shift
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance
