What you'd actually do

  1. Perform failure analyses of airplane hydraulic and/or mechanical components to determine the cause of failure
  2. Emphasis on bench testing skills, component disassembly, technical evaluation, precision measurement, analytical reasoning and report writing
  3. Maintain a working knowledge of airplane components, related systems and supporting technical documentation
  4. Develop test methods to replicate failure modes
  5. Lead analysis teams comprised of Suppliers, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, airline representatives and government representatives
