Mechanical Design Engineer focused on interior cockpit and trim components, utilizing CAD software (Catia V6/3D Experience) for design and development from concept to production. Responsibilities include collaborating with designers, managing engineering bill of materials, and supporting validation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, develop, and model class A plastic injection molded components for the interior of Rivian vehicles from concept through production that achieve performance, timing and commercial targets
  2. Utilize Catia V6/3D Experience to develop high quality 3D parametric data utilizing generative shape design, part design, and sketcher workbench.
  3. Develop high quality 2D drawings in Catia V6
  4. Collaborate Closely with studio designers to achieve design themes
  5. Engage cross functionally ensuring seamless collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and key stakeholders to align to broader company goals and drive success in area of responsibility

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • CAD software - Catia V5/V6 including sketcher, GSD and part workbenches
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, thermal forming, 3D printing, and cut/sew/wrapping
  • Strong understanding of engineering first principles
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to self-direct while managing ambiguity
  • Curiosity and high learning agility
