Anduril Anduril · Defense · Alexandria, VA, Australia · Maritime & Maneuver Dominance : Undersea Dominance - Engineering & Operations : Field Test Engineering

Mechanical Design Engineer for a defense technology company specializing in subsea robotics and advanced manufacturing. Responsibilities include designing production equipment, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment, performing mechanical design and analysis (3D modeling, FEA), material selection, and supporting production processes. Requires a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for manufacturing, proficiency in NX and FEA, and the ability to obtain security clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the physical design, prototyping and fabrication of Production equipment.
  2. Develop novel tooling solutions for fabrication and assembly of structural parts.
  3. Perform detailed mechanical designs including 3D modelling and 2D drawing creation using NX whilst adhering to engineering standards.
  4. Select appropriate materials (metals, polymers, composites) based on mechanical properties, environmental conditions (including marine/corrosive environments), cost constraints, and manufacturing processes.
  5. Execute engineering calculations from first principles (example: lifting analysis, including beam/hook loading and center of gravity calculations).
