Mechanical Design Engineer role focused on the research, design, analysis, manufacture, and testing of aircraft support equipment. Responsibilities include mechanical design, requirements development, supplier interfacing, stress analysis, manufacturing liaison, test plan development, and integration. Requires experience with CAD software and a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment used on military aircraft.
  2. Gathering of data, requirements development, interfacing with suppliers, and performing basic stress and tolerance analysis.
  3. Acting as manufacturing liaison during build process of your project to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved.
  4. Development of test plans and performing environmental testing of Support Equipment.
  5. Testing and integration of manufactured Support Equipment on aircraft.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
  • Experience using CAD software in generating detailed engineering drawings used for manufacturing of mechanical and/or electrical assemblies
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience using FEA software in performance of stress analysis of mechanical and/or electrical assemblies to include static and dynamic analysis to MIL-STD-810 requirements
  • FAA A&P Certificate or equivalent aircraft maintenance background
  • Experience developing manufacturing drawings to GD&T standards
