Anduril Anduril · Defense · Hudson, NH · Mission Systems : Imaging Engineering : Imaging - AIRS

Mechanical Engineer role at Anduril Industries, a defense technology company. Focuses on the design and development of advanced complex electro-mechanical systems, structural components, and electronic packaging for infrared cameras and components. Responsibilities include owning hardware from concept to use, utilizing first principles physics, building prototypes, analyzing failures, and supporting customer demonstrations. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, experience in mechanical design and hardware development, proficiency in CAD software, knowledge of GD&T, thermal and structural analysis, DFMA principles, and must be a U.S. Person.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own hardware from concept generation to real-world use.
  2. Utilize first principles physics as a basis for all decisions.
  3. Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production.
  4. Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
  5. Contribute to the development of new optical systems by assisting in design and implementation efforts.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in mechanical design, hardware development, or integrated product development and testing, ideally with complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo)
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with thermal and structural analysis (e.g., FEA) for robust design validation
  • Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles
  • U.S. Person status
