Mechanical Engineer role at Northrop Grumman supporting the development, building, and test validation of ruggedized electronic equipment for military applications. What you'd actually do

  1. support the development, building, and test validation of ruggedized electronic equipment for military applications
  2. manage schedule and budget for assigned projects, with the ability to identify and communicate any issues that may impact these goals
  3. responsible for solving challenging technical problems with innovative solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements
  4. applied at any phase of the product life cycle, including requirements analysis, concept design, detailed design, manufacture, and environmental test
  5. contribute to overall knowledge base and skill level of the organization via coaching, knowledge transfer, and process improvement activities

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience, master’s degree with 0 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • U.S Citizenship is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Government Secret Clearance prior to starting.
  • Experience with mechanical design and support, hardware development, electro-mechanical packaging, and system integration
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD Tools (Siemens NX is preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership during the product development process including the review of technical work products
  • Demonstrated application of innovative solutions to complex problems that arise within the design, development, and production phases
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including experience presenting at design reviews
  • Displayed ability to exercise latitude in determining most appropriate technical approach of assignments

Nice to have

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or currently pursuing.
  • Active US Government Secret Clearance
  • Working knowledge of military and commercial process specifications
  • Experience interfacing with vendors and customers (i.e. customer/stakeholder briefings)
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Exhibit aptitude in leading others within an integrated product team (IPT) and cross functional collaboration for overall project success
  • Support the development of junior engineers
  • Familiarity with project management metrics, including earned value management, to monitor and manage engineering budget and schedule requirements
  • Experience in design, manufacturing, and integration of electronic ass
