Junior Mechanical Engineer to design enclosures for vehicle electronics, focusing on reliability, cost, and performance. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing thermal and mechanical testing, creating prototypes, and supporting manufacturing and assembly suppliers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work with Mechanical Engineering Technical Lead on development of electronic modules for use in Ford Vehicles.
  2. Collaborating with Hardware Engineers, PCB Designers and the Mechanical Engineering Lead to ensure robust design that will pass internal reliability testing.
  3. Work with Vehicle Packaging Engineers to ensure Module Thermal Packaging Specifications and RF Specifications are followed in vehicle mounting/placement of the Module
  4. Perform Thermal Testing and other Mechanical testing on products under development
  5. Create prototypes of designs via 3D-Printing and/or other rapid prototyping options

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 0 - 3 years experience
  • Part design of die castings, injection molded parts, and stamped sheet-metal parts.
  • Experience with Catia or Similar 3D Solid Modeling Software
  • Experience with Team Center
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PPT, Word...)
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, internal and external teams
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to modify/re-work parts with basic prototyping tools (3D printer, end mill, band saw, drill press, etc…)
