Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development, design, fabrication, and test of space sensor hardware, focusing on RF and EO Sensor Assemblies and Structures. The role involves working with diverse engineering teams on innovative systems from concept to delivery, requiring experience with space mechanical designs and RF/EO environments.

What you'd actually do

  1. Responsible for the mechanical development of advanced antenna and subsystem design as well as the sub-assemblies that they support
  2. Understanding of all aspects of hardware development. This will encompass all phases of design, including concept and detailed design development, CAD modeling efforts, documentation release, fabrication, integration, factory support and testing
  3. Responsible for understanding technical performance of mechanical requirements of space program hardware or subsystems of major satellite programs to assure cost, schedule and technical performance is achieved
  4. Understand the integration and test process of space hardware and the special tooling that may be required
  5. Present technical solutions and technical data at milestone reviews

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Use of 3D CAD tools (Creo, Siemens NX)
  • Ability to work onsite daily
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly
  • Experience with printed circuit board fabrication and testing
  • Experience with surface mount technology, including process steps to manufacture and test micro-circuits
  • Demonstrated technical design support of mechanical microcircuit design.
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously
  • Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.100 engineering drawing practices
  • Familiarity with thermal and structural analysis considerations, methodologies, and software tools
  • Experience with classified satellite and/or payload programs or large-scale space sensor development
  • Familiarity with PWB mechanical
