Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer

NVIDIA is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer to join their Thermal/Mechanical Manufacturing Team. This role focuses on New Product Introduction (NPI) for mechanical and thermal components, ensuring seamless integration of design and manufacturing processes. The engineer will contribute to DFM, DFA, and MFD initiatives, collaborating with hardware engineering, suppliers, and CEMs to develop manufacturing solutions from concept to mass production.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform detailed DFM and DFA analysis and liaison to NVIDIA hardware development team and provide manufacturing solutions.
  2. Lead the identification and resolution of manufacturability challenges that are or might adversely affect manufacturing readiness, applying risk management techniques to optimize production processes.
  3. Collaborate with mechanical/thermal suppliers and CEMs to establish manufacturing specifications as well as expectations, enhancing product design and manufacturability synchronously.
  4. Lead the development of assembly fixtures and jigs, analyze and validate assembly processes step-by-step to ensure quality and efficiency.
  5. Address frontline production issues, failure analysis, drive corrective actions, conduct manufacturing R&D activities, and champion “manufacturing for design” technology readiness to support NVIDIA innovations.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Practical knowledge in metallurgy/plastics, solid mechanics, material selection, and their implications on electrical contacts.
  • Knowledgeable of commonly used manufacturing technologies, good awareness of thermal challenges and working knowledge of basic electrical circuits.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo) and a robust understanding of manufacturing technologies, thermal challenges, and basic electrical circuits.
  • Strong project management skills, with a keen ability to communicate effectively across teams.
  • Solid understanding of commonly used mechanical/thermal testing & inspection method and instrument.

Nice to have

  • Experience in functional tolerancing, GD&T, SPC, system assembly/testing, and a solid grasp of NPI processes.
  • Relevant design experience in data center product design is highly desirable.
