Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications. Requires extensive knowledge of diverse assembly techniques, structural bonding techniques, Composite Layup and Trim, reading engineering drawings, Geometric Positioning and Tolerancing, and assisting in the assembly and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical components. Minimum 4 years of experience in Composite Fabrication and Assembly.

  • Ability to obtain / maintain DOD Top Secret Clearance

Nice to have

  • AA degree or other two-year technical degree
  • technical knowledge in Composite manufacturing operations and procedures as it pertains to layup, Trim/Drill, mechanical fabrication and assembly
  • working with complex engineering drawings, process specification, and work order instructions
  • working in clean room environments
  • use of precision measuring instruments, hand tools, drills, torque wrenches
  • 6 plus years of experience with Composite layup and trim using materials commonly found in aerospace environments
