Mechatronics Engineer, Maritime

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Maritime & Maneuver Dominance : Undersea Dominance - Engineering & Operations : Electrical Engineering

Mechatronics Engineer with PCBA design experience for unmanned underwater vehicles (XLUUVs) at a defense technology company. Role involves end-to-end PCBAs design, troubleshooting, integration of electro-mechanical subsystems, and collaboration across software, electrical, and mechanical disciplines. Requires strong first principles physics understanding and independent work ethic.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design PCBAs end-to-end: requirements capture, schematic design, layout review, fabrication, assembly, bringup, and qualifications
  2. Troubleshoot boards at the bench and in integrated vehicle configurations — isolate failures across electrical, firmware, and mechanical boundaries
  3. Serve as the technical bridge between software, electrical, and mechanical disciplines — translate subsystem needs into electronics requirements and vice versa
  4. Design and integrate electro-mechanical subsystems including motor drives, sensors, actuators, and power distribution for subsea operation
  5. Perform trade studies and physics-based analysis for board architecture, component selection, and thermal/power budgets
