Medical Science Liaison – Cardiometabolic Health

This role is for a Medical Science Liaison in Cardiometabolic Health at Eli Lilly. The primary responsibilities include scientific engagement and education with healthcare professionals, managing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), generating insights from therapeutic trends, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The role requires a strong scientific background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel.

What you'd actually do

  1. Deliver balanced, evidence-based discussions and tailored education to cardiologists, endocrinologists, internists, and payer influencers.
  2. Map, prioritize, and sustain trust-based partnerships with scientific & clinical experts.
  3. Capture unmet needs and therapeutic trends; translate findings into concise reports that drive medical plans, evidence generation, and launch tactics.
  4. Provide compliant scientific support to Access, Commercial, Regulatory, Marketing, Compliance, and any function requiring medical input in a non-promotion way.
  5. Uphold Lilly’s zero-tolerance ethics culture and ensure all activities meet local/global standards and regulations.

Skills

Required

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, or MSc strongly preferred; minimum bachelor’s in life sciences.
  • ≥ 2 years in clinical practice, Medical Affairs, R&D, or related pharmaceutical roles.
  • Fluent English and Spanish; able to present complex data and manage Q&A in both.
  • Proven record of high-impact presentations or publications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable operating in a KPI/metrics-driven CRM environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build multidisciplinary networks and convert qualitative interactions into strategic recommendations.
  • Willing and able to travel aprox. 60% nationally, including overnight trips.

Nice to have

  • Practical knowledge of COFEPRIS, CNIS, CSG processes and contribution to value dossiers or payer engagements.
  • Hands-on involvement in real-world evidence (RWE) projects or investigator-initiated trials.
  • Advanced digital and omnichannel engagement resource management (CRM analytics, webinars, virtual forums).
  • Leadership in diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives or peer mentoring within Medical Affairs.
