The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for rheumatology plays a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining scientific relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and clinical researchers within the rheumatology field. This position focuses on the dissemination of clinical and scientific information related to Johnson & Johnson innovative rheumatology therapies, supporting the education of stakeholders, and facilitating effective communication of the organisation’s research and development initiatives. In addition, this role is crucial for generating valuable insights from the field, which inform business strategies and decision-making processes. By capturing feedback and perspectives from healthcare professionals and KOLs, the MSL provides the organisation with a deeper understanding of market needs, treatment trends, and competitive dynamics. This role is critical to our organisation as it bridges the gap between scientific innovation and clinical practice, ensuring that the latest advancements in rheumatological treatments are effectively communicated and understood in the medical community. Ultimately, the impact of this position extends to improved patient outcomes by enabling healthcare professionals to make informed treatment decisions, while also ensuring that the organisation remains aligned with the evolving landscape of rheumatology. This is a field-based role which requires considerable travel within NSW and interstate.

What you'd actually do

  1. Establish and maintain trusted partnerships with KOLs and HCPs to address research, educational, and clinical needs aligned with business priorities.
  2. Communicate clinical and scientific data effectively, translating evidence to enhance patient outcomes.
  3. Maintain in-depth scientific and therapeutic knowledge, including Johnson & Johnson products and other companies’ products for the relevant disease state.
  4. Gather and share insights on clinical strategies, market landscape, and competitive developments to inform the business.

Skills

Required

  • Proficient in cross-functional collaboration and establishing partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals (HCPs).
  • Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including global and national experts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, adept at conveying complex scientific information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong grasp of clinical research methodologies, data analysis, and the clinical landscape related to lung cancer therapies.
  • Awareness of the commercial landscape and understanding how scientific data impacts business strategies and healthcare decisions.

Nice to have

  • Immunology background, with deep scientific and/or clinical knowledge

What the JD emphasized

  • Medical/Pharmacy/Life science qualifications, advanced degree (Medical Degree, PhD) is required.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is strongly valued, with experience as an MSL or similar customer facing role.
  • Immunology background, with deep scientific and/or clinical knowledge strongly preferred.
