Member of Technical Staff (software Engineer, Acceleration)

This role focuses on leveraging AI tools and agents to improve the efficiency and delivery cadence of various teams within Perplexity, including engineering, research, and operations. The candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities to use AI, making internal systems AI-legible, and building both prototypes and production systems to accelerate development and operations. It's a hybrid role blending AI product development, infrastructure/platform engineering, and developer experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Identify, prioritize, and execute on the highest-potential opportunities to accelerate Perplexity’s delivery cadence with frontier AI capabilities.
  2. Develop empathy for the nuances of our technical and business teams’ work across disciplines and verticals, toward collaborating with them to harness AI in new ways.
  3. Make our codebases, systems, and knowledge stores legible to AI.
  4. Help the company triangulate toward the optimal point on the quality-velocity Pareto frontier, while shifting that frontier outward with AI tools and agents.
  5. Keep abreast of new AI tools/models and make maximally effective use of them in your own work, setting an example across the company and inspiring others to do the same.
