What you'd actually do

  1. Set up and operate spinning lathes (conventional or NC) to spin and/or flame spin various metals into required shapes or forms per drawings and Boeing (BAC) specifications.
  2. Select proper materials, including blanks and spin blocks or dies, and determine correct shear size for spinning operations.
  3. Understand workability and proper flame spinning temperatures for metals such as aluminum, dural, copper, steel, stainless steel, brass, and others.
  4. Fabricate and maintain own spinning tools, spin blocks, shop aids, and hand forming tools as needed.
  5. Read, interpret, and work from prints, sketches, tooling, engineering drawings, specifications, and verbal instructions.

Skills

Required

  • 1+ years of experience with using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers and dial indicators, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience doing jobs or tasks where you had to apply math skills such as algebra, geometry and/or trigonometry
  • 1+ years of experience in NC Machines (in conjunction with metal parts)
  • 2+ years of experience in working with blueprints, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures
  • 1+ years of experience with conventional lathe, milling, precision measuring, power, pneumatic and hand tools

Nice to have

  • 1+ year(s) of experience working with various material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and crane
