This role involves performing metal surface processing for aerospace applications, including cleaning, masking, anodizing, and coating. Responsibilities include preparing parts, conducting inspections, applying coatings, operating processing tanks, handling hazardous materials, and ensuring quality control.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review the tie-in book or standard operating procedures to understand daily work assignments. Provide comprehensive oral and written shift handoffs to ensure seamless workflow continuity.
  2. Monitor the workload in the area and coordinate task flow to optimize shop utilization. Proactively report issues or request additional support as necessary.
  3. Identify, separate, and prepare parts according to work orders and chemical recipes (e.g., alkaline, emulsion, paint strip, sandblast, passivate) prior to racking.
  4. Conduct thorough inspections of materials to verify proper cleaning, etching, rinsing, and other processes to ensure optimal adhesion and coating quality. Perform visual checks post-process to confirm uniform coverage.
  5. Apply approved masking materials and coatings based on technical drawings or tooling specifications in preparation for plating or painting operations.
