This role involves designing and implementing AI-powered vision control systems for manufacturing, focusing on quality control and process improvement. The specialist will work with various vision cameras, programming software, and automation systems, including PLCs, robots, and CNCs. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining equipment, and ensuring systems meet specifications and safety standards. The role also involves integrating AI vision systems into existing manufacturing lines and training personnel.

What you'd actually do

  1. Coordinate cross-functional resources to identify root causes of technical issues and develop validated, actionable solutions.
  2. Design and implement AI-powered vision control systems based on advanced technical knowledge of vision technologies.
  3. Work with a variety of vision cameras and programming software; continuously evaluate and improve equipment for better quality and delivery performance.
  4. Maintain and update program backups for automation and machinery systems.
  5. Inspect electronic equipment, instruments, products and systems to ensure conformance to specifications, safety standards, and applicable codes and regulations.

Skills

Required

  • Building and programming automation sequences for machining and assembly lines using Siemens PLCs including S7-300 series and IM151 safety PLCs
  • Developing PLC logic and HMI screens via Step 7, WinCC Flexible, or TIA Portal across multiple platforms
  • Maintaining safety interlocks signals for safe operating environment, part tracking including FIS or QLSCM, and machine diagnostics
  • Utilizing Siemens CNC 840D sl and S120 Servo systems for high-precision crankshaft and block machining operations
  • Configuring servo axes and drive parameters using SinuCom NC or Starter tools for synchronized multi-axis motion
  • Optimizing motion accuracy and reliability in plant environments, in collaboration with mechanical and software teams
  • Integrating industrial robots into engine machining and assembly lines, primarily for part handling and automated loading/unloading utilizing robots including FANUC or ABB, based on industry usage with Siemens PLCs and HMI systems using standard I/O and safety protocols
  • Configuring Schneider PLCs for auxiliary automation functions within multi-vendor manufacturing environments for new launch engine types
  • Developing HMI interfaces using Magelis PL7 and Unity Pro for seamless operator interaction
  • Building and deploying visual inspection stations for defect detection and quality verification on engine block lines and assembly lines, along with Integrating smart sensors and laser-based detection units including Keyence and Cognex with Siemens, Schneider, or PL7 PLCs for pass/fail decision-making
