This role is for a Microprocessor VLSI Physical Design Engineer at AMD. The engineer will be responsible for high-speed VLSI design in deep submicron fabrication processes, working closely with chip architects and designers to optimize power, performance, area, and schedule. The role involves solving design and tool problems requiring innovative approaches and creating technical presentations. Experience in high-speed VLSI design, computer architecture, and various aspects of physical design like floor planning, CTS, placement, routing, STA, and physical verification is preferred. Familiarity with programming languages like Perl, C, and tcl is also mentioned.

What you'd actually do

Skills

Required

  • BS/MS in EE, CS, CSE (or similar), plus 5+ years hardware design experience

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience in high-speed VLSI design
  • Excellent understanding of computer architecture, hardware concepts & design tradeoffs
  • Knowledge of Chip Level Floor planning, Bus / Pin Planning, Clock Tree Synthesis, Placement, Optimization, Routing, Parasitic Extraction, Static Timing Analysis, IR drop analysis, electromigration, Physical Verification and Sign Off.
  • Comprehend complex Verilog RTL and make minor modifications for timing or power.
  • Knowledge of digital circuits, high speed flops, synchronizers, level shifters, and SRAM.
  • Familiar with programing languages such as Perl, C, tcl, etc.
