Microsoft Purview and Data Governance Senior Consultant

This role focuses on implementing and managing Microsoft Purview for data governance, information protection, and regulatory compliance within client organizations. It involves assessing, designing, and implementing solutions related to data classification, labeling, retention, and eDiscovery.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assessing client data governance and compliance environments and developing recommendations for Microsoft Purview capabilities, including Data Loss Prevention, Compliance Manager, eDiscovery, and Information Protection.
  2. Designing and implementing Microsoft Purview solutions to support data classification, labeling, retention, investigation, and governance requirements across enterprise environments.
  3. Performing technical health checks, discovery, and remediation activities for Microsoft Purview deployments, including audit, privileged access, and policy configuration reviews.
  4. Supporting proof of concept, deployment, integration, and post-implementation activities for Microsoft Purview and adjacent Microsoft security and compliance technologies.
  5. Advising clients on data governance strategy, lifecycle management, compliance monitoring, and operating model improvements to strengthen security posture and reduce risk.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in technical consulting, client problem-solving, solution architecture, or solution design for Microsoft Purview or Microsoft data governance and compliance technologies
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience implementing or operating Microsoft Purview capabilities, including data classification, labeling, protection, eDiscovery, data loss prevention, or compliance reporting
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing data governance or compliance controls across Microsoft environments, including application integrations
  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information security, engineering, information technology, or business administration
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of experience with data governance frameworks, data lifecycle management, or compliance programs
  • 3+ years of experience implementing Microsoft security or compliance solutions focused on data governance
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview capabilities such as Information Barriers, Insider Risk Management, Communication Compliance, Compliance Manager, or Audit
  • Microsoft certification such as MS-102
  • Industry certification such as Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), Certifi
