This role focuses on the design and validation of microwave components for quantum computing hardware operating in cryogenic environments. It involves hardware development from requirements to validation, working within a cross-functional team.

What you'd actually do

  1. Solve layered technical problems across our cryogenic signal chain.
  2. Develop requirements with key system stakeholders, including quantum device, test and measurement, hardware, and theory teams.
  3. Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative solutions that meet both performance and cost metrics.
  4. Research enabling technologies necessary for Amazon reach commercial viability in quantum computing .

Skills

Required

  • Master's degree or above in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
  • Competent in the use of microwave test equipment and automated test development.
  • 4+ years of direct experience in the design of cryogenic microwave components and systems.
  • Proficient in the use of microwave and mechanical CAD software, including HPADS, HFSS, MWO, Altium, COMSOL, and SOLIDWORKS.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability, including familiarity with machining tolerances, materials, and capabilities.

Nice to have

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.
  • Previous experience with the design of parametric amplifiers.
  • Proficient in the operation of dilution refrigerators.
