Mid-level or Senior System Safety Engineer

Seeking a Mid-Level or Senior System Safety Engineer for Boeing's Vertical Lift Mission Assurance Organization. The role involves assessing hazards across various subsystems, developing safety requirements, and performing multiple types of hazard analyses throughout the product lifecycle. Experience with rotorcraft safety standards and platform knowledge is preferred. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and several years of engineering experience, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provides engineering leadership to multiple teams to ensure thoughtful strategic planning, development of objective statements of work, scheduling of work and estimating
  2. Evaluate customer specifications and regulations, and assess the design to develop safety requirements, constraints, and operating limits
  3. Develop System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs)
  4. Perform a variety of hazard analyses across the full product life cycle, such as Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Aircraft and System Preliminary System Safety Analyses (PSSA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), Common Mode Analysis (CMA), Zonal Analysis, Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), Operational Health Hazard Analysis (OHHA), Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), Safety Assessment Report (SAR), System Safety Risk Assessments (SSRA) and Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)
  5. Review engineering design specifications, test and manufacturing operations, change proposals, anomaly reports, and deviation/waiver requests for potential safety impacts

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • 2+ years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering
  • 3+ years of experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation and completion

  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Rotorcraft systems
  • Experience with SAE Standard ARP4754A, RTCA DO-178 or DO-254
