This role involves designing and developing space-based RF payloads, including communications systems for satellites, and working in a team environment to meet demanding timelines. Responsibilities include leading trade studies, defining requirements, selecting technologies, designing, building, testing, and delivering communication products, and operating systems on orbit.

What you'd actually do

  1. Leading space vehicle mission trade studies related to communications links
  2. Identify & define communications system requirements
  3. Identify appropriate communications technologies to meet requirements
  4. Collaborating with teammates across multiple disciplines to design, build, test and deliver spacecraft communication products for multiple programs
  5. Develop Millennium's own communications technologies from concept to flight readiness

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in space or aviation RF & Communications system design, analysis, subsystem component selection, and system evaluation
  • Experience calculating link budgets including atmospheric & environmental effects
  • Experience performing antenna design & analysis including sizing, patterns, gains, and usage
  • Experience evaluating and selecting RF components (e.g. LNA, PA sizing and selection)
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship

Nice to have

  • Experience designing, implementing and testing algorithms for software defined radios
  • Experience with legacy and emerging satellite communications modulation and coding.
  • Experience designing, implementing and testing antennas
  • Experience designing, implementing and testing radios from piece parts level
  • Experience with optical communications links
  • Experience with networking and networked RF communication links
  • Experience with the CCSDS standards
  • Master's Degree or higher
  • Current SSBI or TS/SCI clearance
