Military Repair Tool Engineer (onsite)

This role focuses on developing concepts for new repair tool designs for military engine programs, presenting these concepts to customers for approval, ensuring compliance with design requirements, coordinating with suppliers, and resolving technical questions related to tooling. It involves a deep understanding of repair and manufacturing processes, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and technical writing.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop concepts for new repair tool designs for Military Engine programs including the F119 and F135 programs.
  2. Present tool concepts to USAF and JPO customers for review and obtain customers approval to proceed to detailed design and tool build.
  3. Complete the PW Tool Design Review process and ensure tools are developed and produced in compliance with PW Repair Tool design requirements and customer expectations.
  4. Coordinate with suppliers and perform final checks of tooling developed at suppliers.
  5. Review tool drawings.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math and 5+ years of related experience or 3+ years of related experience with an Advanced degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret repair requirements, and engineering part prints
  • Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Familiarity with typical repair and manufacturing processes including: machining, grinding, and special processes including shot-peen, welding, brazing, riveting, and coating processes including plasma spray.
  • Familiarity with commonly used tooling materials.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to program requirements.

Nice to have

  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 5+ years tool design, manufacturing engineering, or repair development experience.
  • Unigraphics experience for the development of tooling concepts.
  • Teamcenter experience
