Mining Onboard Specialist - Minestar

Caterpillar Caterpillar · Industrial · Mesa, AZ +1

This role supports Caterpillar's MineStar Command for hauling autonomous systems, focusing on technical support, system optimization, and collaboration with dealer and customer teams. The specialist will troubleshoot field issues, manage machine integration, analyze fault data, and report on system performance, acting as a key link between the customer and Caterpillar. The role requires strong technical and field support experience with large mining equipment and electronic systems, with a preference for prior Cat MineStar experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own onboard hardware health & availability for MineStar/Command for hauling-equipped fleet—supporting the customer’s trucks in the field.
  2. Manage machine and system integration, ensuring onboard components, networks, and machine control systems work together as intended.
  3. Troubleshoot field issues, document findings, and track problems through resolution in collaboration with cross-functional teams (engineering, product support, commercial).
  4. Analyze autonomy and base machine fault data—including validating data accuracy/integrity—to support root-cause problem solving and performance improvement.
  5. Report hardware/software status and critical failures clearly and consistently, escalating when required and following proper procedures for critical system events.
