This role involves assisting in the operation of an autonomous surface vessel, focusing on safe navigation and mission testing. The candidate will stand navigational watches and contribute to the vessel's operational objectives, working with cutting-edge autonomous systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Safely navigate the vessel during to and from operation testing sites.
  2. Standing a navigational watch in addition to autonomous systems
  3. Contribute to the overall operation as directed by the Captain.
  4. Assist in the shipboard execution of mission objectives.

Skills

Required

  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard. Minimum National 500/1600T Mate Upon Oceans. Unlimited Mate’s License desired.
  • STCW Basic Training, GMDSS Operator, OICNW, FCC License
  • Valid TWIC , USCG STCW Medical Certificate, and passport.
  • Proficiency in maritime navigation systems
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a group
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to stand a 12 hour navigational watch
  • Must pass background check and USCG/DOT drug testing.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies or similar field
  • Familiarity / experience with maneuvering characteristics of jet-drive propelled vessels
  • Experience with autonomous or unmanned systems is a plus
  • Prior experience working with the DoD or other government agencies is a plus
  • Security clearance eligibility preferred (for restricted or government-access sites).
