Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a **Mission Support Threat Engineering Lead - Level 3 or 4 **- to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The job location is at Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB), Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Position Overview:
The Mission Support Threat Engineering Lead - Level 3 or 4 - will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Threat and Advanced Simulation Development (TASD) contract, performing as an Agile Product Owner within the Threat Products and Services (TPS) ART. The TPS ART offers opportunities to support the U.S. Department of War (DoW) through the development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) software products and the production of threat missile simulation data used to support various Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Ground Test (GT) and exercise events.
The Mission Support Threat Engineering Lead - Level 3 or 4 will be a detail-oriented engineering leader with demonstrated leadership characteristics who can effectively lead a team that is responsible for capturing and documenting requirements as they pertain to all missile modeling disciplines as well as evaluating missile threat models for use in a variety of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tools/frameworks/media. The MSTE Lead must have a good understanding of M&S methods and processes and must be familiar with missile concepts and physics. The MSTE Lead will coordinate collaboration with the customers, threat data stakeholders, and intelligence analysts to best capture the requirements for developing and delivering accurate and representative threat missile models. The selected individual will work with minimal supervision, lead a product delivery team, and meet the time critical delivery schedules.
The Mission Support Threat Engineering Lead – Level 3 or 4 - will be an experienced engineering leader with excellent customer relationship management skills.
**Essential Functions: **
- Perform strategic planning to include coordination with Intelligence Production Centers (IPCs), Missile Defense System (MDS) elements/representatives, test event framework developers, MDA developmental Threat Systems Engineering, and Event Scenario designers to determine specific threat representations needed to meet test event objectives/requirements.
- The MSTE (Mission Support Threat Engineering) team supports the GT Concept of Operations (CONOPs) meetings and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs).
- The MSTE team develops requirements for threat simulation models/software, as well as Verification and Validation (V&V) documents for threat models developed on contract. Threat missile model disciplines consist of the kinematic, Radio Frequency (RF) and Infrared (IR) signature domains.
- Lead a team of inter-disciplinary engineers and subject matter experts in the derivation of threat missile system requirements, M&S, and Verification and Validation activities across the missile modeling disciplines.
- Communicate directly with government customer POCs and MDA test event stakeholders, scenario designers, integration leads, and accreditation groups.
- Work directly with intelligence centers to coordinate and obtain relevant threat missile system assessments and data, identify data gaps, and orchestrate modeling of desired threat missile systems.
- Identify innovative solutions and techniques to accelerate the production of MDA test event deliverables and threat models.
- Review and approve deliverables produced by the Mission Support Threat Engineering team.
- Track and report budget/schedule status, deliverable status, performance, and metrics.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Mission Support Threat Engineering Lead – Level 3 or a Senior Principal Mission Support Threat Engineering Lead – Level 4.
Basic Qualifications:
- Principal Mission Support Threat Engineer – Level – 3: Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline preferred and 5 years of related experience; or Master’s degree and 3 years of experience; or PhD and 1 years of experience.
- Sr. Principal Mission Support Threat Engineer – Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline preferred and 8 years of related experience; or Master’s degree and 6 years of experience; or PhD and 4 years of experience.
- Applicants must have an active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret clearance at the time of application and is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
- Demonstrated team leadership experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with Modeling & Simulation tools and data products.
- Experience with the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of missile systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong math, physics or engineering background.
- Previous experience with analyzing flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters of missiles.
- Previous experience modeling or simulating missile signatures profiles in IR and/or RF domains.
- Background in missile systems engineering.
Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
