Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer (kinematic) - Level 2 or 3

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Colorado Springs, CO +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer (Kinematic) to develop high-fidelity threat modeling products for missile defense systems. This role involves creating kinematic models for ballistic and hypersonic threats, applying engineering algorithms to simulate flight characteristics, and authoring verification and validation documents. The position requires a STEM background, programming skills (MATLAB, Python, LaTeX), and a Secret security clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Responsible for developing ballistic and advanced/hypersonic kinematic threat models for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools/frameworks/media.
  2. Will apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected missile or space launch vehicle behavioral characteristics during all phases of powered and un-powered flight.
  3. Will research, interpret, verify parameters required to build, replicate, and propagate missile or space launch vehicle trajectories including, but not limited to, staging debris, countermeasures, and payload traits.
  4. Will author highly technical Verification and Validation (V&V) documents.
