Module Reliability Engineer

This role focuses on ensuring the reliability of new technology components for Apple's hardware. The Module Reliability Engineer will guide development teams by identifying high-risk failure modes early in the design cycle, using engineering knowledge for mitigation, setting test specifications, driving equipment procurement and qualification, executing stress testing, analyzing data, and providing direction for failure analysis to understand root causes and implement corrective actions.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive & update FMEA
  2. Establish specifications for component/module reliability
  3. Set up reliability test infrastructure at Apple suppliers
  4. Perform validation test development
  5. Generate reliability test plans and drive test execution at Apple suppliers
  6. Analyze and summarize reliability data
  7. Drive failure analysis and mitigations
  8. Provide risk assessments

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering or equivalent field with 3+ yrs of experience
  • Understand the physics behind the mechanical & electrical properties of materials
  • Exposure to failure analysis techniques
  • Exposure to Materials characterization tools (e.g. scanning electron microscopy, CT scanning, FTIR,…)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel internationally without restrictions

Nice to have

  • Graduate degree in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering or equivalent field with 2+ yrs of experience
  • Extraordinary problem solving abilities
  • Experience with the design and manufacture of assemblies that convert digital signals into physical signals (voltage, light, vibration) and vice versa
  • Adept in statistical data analysis
  • Capable of clear reporting
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Ability to complete tests and resolve problems in an unattended manner
  • Flexibility to accept new tasks and go beyond one's comfort zone
