Molding Process Engineer

This role focuses on new tool and process development in the molding industry, ensuring tools meet product specifications, performance, and cosmetic requirements within project schedules. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, serve as a subject matter expert in tooling and molding, and may require travel.

What you'd actually do

  1. To work closely with Product Designer, Supply Management, Quality & Manufacturing Engineering and other cross-functional teams, to deliver best-in-class parts & products.
  2. Serves as the subject matter expert for the Tooling & Molding aspect.
  3. Frequent travel within the region may be required.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Polymer Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in plastic tool design, mold making or injection molding industry.

Nice to have

  • Good exposure in polymer science, engineering plastics, thermal plastics, liquid silicon rubber and etc.
  • Good knowledge of geometric dimensioning and scientific molding techniques.
  • Experience in leading the process optimization, yield improvement, and implementing best practices in tooling & molding aspects.
  • Possess the ability to troubleshoot technical issues with a scientific approach, and use of engineering tools/techniques such as scientific molding, JMP/MiniTab, Tolerance Analysis, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma techniques.
  • Familiar with 3D modeling/simulation software such as Pro/E, Unigraphics, Moldflow, Moldex3D or other software packages.
  • Excellent in written, technical reporting, presentation, and effective cross-functional communication.
  • Systematic, analytical & strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to work independently and have good follow-up discipline.
