Molecular Technologist I/ii (high Complexity)

Tempus AI · Vertical AI · Chicago, IL

This role is for a Molecular Technologist in a clinical laboratory focused on precision medicine and healthcare. The primary responsibilities involve performing high-quality next-generation sequencing (NGS) data generation, quality control, laboratory maintenance, and diagnostic testing in accordance with strict SOPs and regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH). The role requires experience in NGS workflows, molecular biology techniques, and working in a high-complexity clinical laboratory setting. While the company mentions AI advancements impacting clinical care, this specific role is focused on the wet lab execution of genomic sequencing, not AI/ML model development or deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work with a cutting-edge genomics workflow to provide high-quality next-generation sequencing data with rapid turnaround times in a clinical laboratory.
  2. Perform routine quality control and laboratory maintenance procedures and proficiency testing in accordance with current laboratory SOPs:
  3. Read and understand NGS SOPs required to perform routine clinical workflow procedures. Participate in the review, editing, and/or creation of NGS procedures and documentation.
  4. Demonstrate mastery of NGS workflows, which are performed under direction of more senior and/or lead technologists and NGS supervisors, monitor and coordinate the training of other technologists, along with assisting in optimization of training documents.
