Mts Silicon Design Engineer

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Austin, TX · Engineering

This role is for a Silicon Design Engineer at AMD, focusing on the research, design, development, and testing of electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. The engineer will be involved in ASIC development, including definition, design, verification, and documentation, as well as logic design, system simulation, and multidimensional designs for complex integrated circuits. Responsibilities include evaluating the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing/power usage, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role requires expertise in hardware verification, digital logic design using HDLs, EDA tools, SystemVerilog, UVM, test plan development, RTL coding, and scripting in Python or Perl.

What you'd actually do

  1. research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory.
  2. Oversee definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development.
  3. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation.
  4. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation.
  5. Lead the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits.

Skills

Required

  • Performing hardware verification through tests and simulations
  • Designing and implementing the functionality of digital logic circuits using a hardware description language, such as Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog
  • Utilizing front-end Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to translate hardware design specifications into RTL (Register Transfer Level) code
  • Using SystemVerilog (SV) to design and verify complex integrated circuits (ICs)
  • Using Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) to implement verification environments
  • Developing test plans to verify chip functionality, performance, and power requirements
  • Performing logic design and Register Transfer Level (RTL) coding to define and create the digital circuits that form a chip
  • Scripting and testing in Python or Perl
