Operates and sets up multi-axis numerical control (NC) drilling machines, performing tasks such as hole preparation, drilling, and countersinking. Requires experience with NC/CNC machines, precision measuring tools, and reading blueprints. Involves monitoring machine operations, performing self-inspections, and using statistical process control (SPC).

What you'd actually do

  1. Retrieve, download, and verify the most current Numerical Control (NC) programs on machine controllers from various servers/databases.
  2. Independently set up, operate, and adjust multi-axis NC drilling machines using program documents and control media; perform hole preparation, drilling, countersinking, and other machine-adapted tasks.
  3. Select, inspect, and maintain drills per program specifications, ensuring correct type, size, and condition; replace as necessary.
  4. Monitor machine operation for unusual vibrations, sounds, and warning indicators; notify supervisors of malfunctions.
  5. Check and maintain fluid levels and work supports; adjust machine buttons and clamps to secure parts properly.
