Lead the design, analysis, and development of autonomous surface vessels, integrating traditional naval architecture with advanced autonomous technologies. Responsibilities include vessel design, CAD modeling, structural design, component integration, weight management, and supporting the integration of autonomous systems. The role also involves leading design reviews, researching new developments, mentoring engineers, and ensuring quality in naval architecture work.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the design, development, and analysis of vessel hull forms, arrangements, structures, and mechanical systems for ASVs
  2. Coordinate with other engineer teams to perform CAD modeling, structural design, component integration, and weight management for vessel optimization
  3. Support the integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs
  4. Lead design reviews and brainstorming sessions for new and existing vessel concepts
  5. Research and stay updated on new developments in naval architecture, autonomous technology, and defense requirements

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong fundamentals in core naval architecture principles, including ship design, stability, structures, propulsion, and hydrodynamics
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Rhino, AutoCAD, Nx) and simulation tools (e.g., Orca3D, Star CCM+, GHS, or equivalent)
  • Experience leading and managing engineering teams
