Network Automation Engineer

This role focuses on network automation engineering within the Azure WAN team, involving the design, development, and building of networking and automation components for the Wide Area Network. Responsibilities include assisting in network feature design, contributing to testing and validation, managing network buildouts, analyzing capacity issues, and supporting incident management.

What you'd actually do

  1. Assists in the design of reliable, scalable, and high-performance network features or components with guidance from other engineers.
  2. Contributes to testing and validation of network devices, firmware, and configurations. Defines and implements test cases with existing automation tools.
  3. Works within a team of engineers to manage network buildouts and provide instructions to data center or network site staff/technicians on how to repair, replace, and maintain physical network hardware and components deployed in production.
  4. Assists in analyzing capacity issues and identifies network components that may need to be modified or replaced with guidance from other engineers. Provides recommended changes to hardware and/or network components to internal teams working with external partners and suppliers to improve capacity.
  5. Supports the management of incidents across one or more workstreams by applying technical knowledge to diagnose and triage issues with guidance from other engineers. Takes notes during incidents and participates in post mortem and root cause analysis processes.
