Network Engineer, Operations & Support

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Ashburn, VA

Meta is hiring a Network Engineer to support the deployment and operations of enterprise network services across their physical site infrastructure. This role involves end-to-end deployment, troubleshooting, and operational support of network systems, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality delivery. Responsibilities include deploying and commissioning network hardware, resolving incidents, participating in on-call rotations, and analyzing trends for automation opportunities. The role also requires collaboration with vendors and adherence to network standards. Qualifications include experience with network hardware vendors, enterprise network operations, troubleshooting TCP/IP and related protocols, and experience with network automation scripting. While the role mentions using AI tools to optimize workflows, automate documentation, and accelerate troubleshooting, the core responsibilities and primary focus are on traditional network engineering tasks.

What you'd actually do

  1. Deploy and commission enterprise network infrastructure including switching, routing, wireless access points, and access layer systems across Meta's site and campus environments
  2. Investigate and resolve complex network incidents affecting site services, coordinating with cross-functional teams and vendor partners to drive timely resolution and minimize impact
  3. Participate in on-call rotation to support site network operations, identifying opportunities to improve escalation processes, tooling, and automation to reduce recurring issues
  4. Collaborate with network engineering and facilities teams to ensure site network deployments align with design standards, reliability requirements, and security and compliance policies
  5. Maintain accurate operational documentation, network inventory records, and configuration data to support ongoing site services operations and audit readiness

Skills

Required

  • Experience working with network hardware vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or equivalent platforms in an operational or deployment capacity
  • 2+ years of experience in enterprise network operations, deployment, or support roles involving switching, routing, wireless, and access layer infrastructure
  • Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, and wireless networking protocols in complex multi-site or campus environments
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners including facilities, IT, and vendor teams to deliver network infrastructure projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience maintaining operational documentation, network inventory systems, and configuration records to support compliance and audit requirements
  • Experience using data analysis or network monitoring tools to identify fault trends, measure operational performance, and inform infrastructure improvements
  • Experience with network automation scripting using Python or similar languages to reduce manual operational tasks in site services environments
  • Familiarity with physical infrastructure components including structured cabling, fiber optic systems, patch panels, and data center or IDF/MDF environments relevant to campus network deployments

Nice to have

  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to optimize network operations workflows, automate documentation, or accelerate troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
