Network Tools Engineer

This role focuses on monitoring and management platforms, scripting, integrations, and troubleshooting across a diverse enterprise environment. The ideal candidate has strong networking fundamentals, experience with network tools, and the ability to collaborate across IT operations teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Manage, maintain, and optimize network monitoring and automation platforms (e.g., LogicMonitor, NetBrain, ThousandEyes).
  2. Develop and enhance integrations using Python, Groovy, or shell scripting (RESTful APIs, automation workflows).
  3. Ensure monitoring coverage, alerting accuracy, and data quality across tools and device inventory.
  4. Collaborate with Network Operations, Tools, and Service Management teams to improve processes and workflows.
  5. Support IT Operations teams in implementing monitoring standards, best practices, and operational documentation.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Strong general networking knowledge
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration (server management, processes, services)
  • Strong problem‑solving and network troubleshooting skills
  • Understanding of standard network protocols: TCP/IP, SNMP, MIBs, DNS, HTTP
  • Experience with Python/Groovy/Shell scripting (RESTful API integrations, automation, Bruno/Postman)
  • Hands-on experience with LogicMonitor or similar network monitoring tools
  • Experience with NetBrain and ThousandEyes (or equivalent tools)
  • Background in Network and IT Operations
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms
  • Basic ITIL awareness
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Skilled level expertise in design of computing or network or storage to meet business application system qualities
  • Understands technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goals.
  • Understands concepts of setting and driving architecture direction.
  • Familiar with elements of gathering architecture requirements.
  • Understands architecture standards concepts to apply to project work.
  • Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies (Cisco IOS/XE/NX‑OS, Viptela SD‑WAN, Meraki), firewalls, load balancers
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible/AWX
  • Experience with Infoblox NetMRI or comparable tools
