Occupancy Planner

This role is for an Occupancy Planner at Verkada, a company that provides an AI-powered physical security platform. The role focuses on space planning, occupancy strategy, and managing space data across global offices. It involves analyzing space trends, developing layouts, partnering with stakeholders, and maintaining spatial data. The role requires experience in workplace strategy and space utilization, proficiency in Google Workspace and CAFM systems, and familiarity with ADA guidelines. This is a contract-to-hire position.

What you'd actually do

  1. Analyze and report on space and occupancy trends using headcount forecasts, organizational changes, and business requirements to inform space strategy and utilization decisions
  2. Develop space assessments, block plans, and conceptual layouts that support current operations and future growth across multi-building campuses and diverse teams
  3. Partner with business leaders, executive admins, and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate seating strategies, team adjacencies, conference room usage, and overall occupancy needs, proposing proactive solutions where needed
  4. Maintain accurate spatial data and standards by managing the space planning system, participating in building audits, and coordinating adherence to space ratios, room classifications, and office standards
  5. Collaborate with Workplace, Moves, and Design & Construction teams to support move planning, reconfigurations, and campus-wide relocations, ensuring alignment on space strategy

Skills

Required

  • BA/BS in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or related field—or equivalent experience in space planning
  • 2+ years of experience in workplace strategy, occupancy planning, and space utilization
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets (advanced data manipulation and analysis)
  • Experience with CAFM systems, preferably OfficeSpace
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to build cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Familiarity with ADA guidelines and building codes
