The Operations Automation Engineer role at Caterpillar focuses on supporting and leading projects for robotic and automated systems within manufacturing operations. Responsibilities include programming, debugging, troubleshooting, and deploying these systems, as well as training end-users. The role requires experience with various industrial robots, automated system integration (including vision systems and RFID), and an understanding of Industrial Automation and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) concepts.

What you'd actually do

  1. Programming, debugging and troubleshooting robotic and automated systems; supporting or leading efforts to deploy automated systems.
  2. Partnering with support teams on application / software troubleshooting.
  3. Trains end users and operations support teams on the automated system applications.
  4. Owns local operation application support.
  5. Supports execution of standards.

Skills

Required

  • Experience with different Operational Robots/Cobots controls and brands: KUKA, ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, UR and others.
  • Experience with different Robots/Cobots application: pick and place, part location, welding and others.
  • Experience with Robotic offline programming softwares.
  • Experience with automated systems: one-piece-flow processes with integration of vision systems, RFID,
  • Experience with Robots/Cobots Cell integration (peripheric: PLC, conveyors, Machining Centers, vision systems and others).
  • Robots/Cobots commissioning (electrical and electronic installation).
