Uber Eats was launched in Portugal in November 2017 and is the most used Delivery platform in Portugal. We are available in 100+ cities, delivering from over 12,000 stores (restaurants, groceries and stores) and growing quickly!
As an Operations Manager, Uber Eats - Courier Ops you will be responsible for ensuring we remain the safest and most compliant platform in Portugal. For that, you will be responsible for developing data-driven insights, defining strategies and driving impactful and innovative business initiatives for the Portuguese market.
You will work closely with the broader Operations team, and drive alignment across several cross-functional partners, including teams and Regional operations.
This role calls for a combination of analytical skills, business acumen and stakeholder management. We operate in a fast paced environment, so we are looking for a highly adaptable candidate who is able to work on longer-term strategic initiatives while addressing our short-term issues at the same time.
What you'll do
Analyze Data: Leverage Uber’s rich dataset to supervise market performance and understand courier challenges. You will build analytical frameworks, operational models, and dashboards to maintain business control and drive operational improvement.
Project Management: Develop and execute complex end to end projects, such as the launch of new products and processes, ensuring that they are executed in line with Uber’s high operating standards and delivered in a timely manner.
Strategy definition: Develop the strategy for certain aspects of the courier operations vertical, finding areas of improvement on compliance and safety, sizing opportunities and implementing highest impact projects.
Stakeholder management: Be the voice of the Portuguese market toward Product teams: Maintain links between on-the-ground local teams and our Regional and Product teams for certain aspects of the courier operations vertical. You will also need to collaborate and lead projects involving cross-functional teams like Legal, Employment, Comms or Community Operations.
What you'll need
- A minimum of 3 years in analytical roles; background in a growth role in a fast paced startup or in operations management, management consulting, investment banking or strategy work in a large business preferred.
- A BSc or MSc in a quantitative field, such as economics, mathematics or engineering.
- Analytical & critical thinking and experience with data-driven decision-making, ability to deal with data (reports, experiments, pricing models) and exercise good judgment in ambiguous circumstances and effectively communicating across a complementary team.
- Business acumen, ability to seize and prioritize opportunities based on feasibility and potential.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and proactivity, ability to own end-to-end projects from strategic thinking to actually getting things done.
- Creative 360 thinker: you are able to think outside the box and come up with new approaches and initiatives to reach ambitious growth targets.
- Excellent excel skills.
- Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
- Working rights in Portugal (no sponsorship available).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQL is a plus, or comfortable learning and using new software tools.
- Industry knowledge in the on-demand / same-day delivery. space.
