This role is for an Outside Machinist responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and machinery, particularly in maritime applications. The job involves reading blueprints, using precision instruments, operating machine tools, and working with various mechanical components and systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Install, align, and test main propulsion plant machinery
  2. Install and test auxiliary machinery, such as generators, switchboards, piping and pump systems, etc.
  3. Perform overhaul, maintenance, and installation of valves, pumps, turbines, and heat exchangers
  4. Conduct lube oil flushing, hydrostatic testing, and system grooming per cleanliness standards
  5. Install mechanical systems such as anchor windlasses, small pumps, motors, and hydraulic components

  • Inspect and test installed systems and pipelines
  • Perform layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of pipe systems
  • Install fittings and equipment
  • Install windows and doors
  • Install mast and mast equipment
  • Inspect all equipment daily
  • Follow shipyard safety policies
  • Assist in the training and development of junior riggers
