Role Definition Executes solutions on packaging design and usage and related safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Responsibilities • Designing packaging for products or parts; providing detailed guidance and specifications to suppliers. • Identifying parts and material suppliers to determine the optimal method of packaging product for various distribution networks. • Following procedures in approving all packaging for a specific product line. Monitoring and evaluating quality and effectiveness of existing packaging; addressing issues caused by transportation damage. • Evaluating packaging materials, automation technologies and machinery, and reporting the results regularly.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts. Level Working Knowledge: • Generates specifications for parts or components with CAD software. • Reuses design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures. • Uses CAD to perform basic drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects. • Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings. • Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level Basic Understanding: • Explains characteristics and steps in an effective decision-making process. • Identifies issues and communicates with others when a decision needs to be made. • Names decision makers in own environment and cites examples of past decisions. • Describes types of decisions incumbent may and may not make in own job or function.

Packaging: Knowledge of packaging tools, approaches and practices; ability to package products and components safely and attractively. Level Working Knowledge: • Assists in packaging machine installation, maintenance and repair work under the direction of senior staff. • Operates a packaging machine to fulfill a series of packaging tasks according to a company or client's specifications. • Adheres to the packaging development process and assists in executing key packaging phases. • Conducts basic packaging testing such as finished package testing, simulated distribution testing, leak testing. • Produces package specifications for a new product or package.
Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner. Level Basic Understanding: • Cites personal experiences of receiving excellent customer service. • Describes examples of poor, mediocre, and excellent service. • Explains how managing customer perceptions and expectations enhances customer service. • Describes several important business benefits of providing high quality service.
This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
